Andrew Wiggins is currently in the 2014 class, but he is considering reclassifying to the 2013 class, so we are going to put him here, because thats where he belongs. Wiggins is considered the best player in the country, regardless of class. He has put on some massive performances this summer at the Lebron James Skills Academy, and the Peach Jam. Calipari has been a regualar at his games, and he is best friends with fellow 2013 target Xavier Rathan-Mayes. Wiggins is practically down to Florida State (where both his parents attended school), and Kentucky. Wiggins is a cant-miss prospect and Calipari will pull out all the stops to pull Wiggins in. Aaron Gordon is a 6’7″, 205 lb PF from San Jose, California. Aaron Gordon is an animal. Has been compared to Blake Griffin. He is a ferocious dunker and a very good shot-blocker. He recently said that his top three is Washington, Arizona, and UK. He plays AAU ball for the Oakland Soldiers which is the same AAU team as Kyle Wiltjer and he has said that him and Kyle talk regularly. Gordon said he will make a visit to UK because he has been hearing is it some crazy college environment. Yes, Aaron it is. Gordon is not going to rush his decision, which is good for UK because it gives them time to catch up to Washington and Arizona who have been on him longer. Watch his highlight tape and you will see why Calipari is going hard after him.

Derek Willis is UK’s lone committed prospect of 2013. Willis has recently dropped quite a bit in recent rankings. He was once a top-25 recruit but has dropped due to lack of progression. Willis is a 6’9, 200 lb PF from Mount Washington, KY where he attends Bullitt East High School. He has a nice jumper, but needs to get stronger and work more in the post to live up to his full potential. He picked UK over Louisville, Purdue, and Indiana.

Jabari Parker is a 6’8″, 220 lb SF from Chicago, Illinois. Parker has been the #1 player for a long time now as he is headed into his senior year. Parker has been sidelined lately with an injury but he has an NBA body and knows the game very well. He was recently on the cover of Sports Illustrated who said he is “the best basketball player since Lebron James.” That is high praise, but Parker is very humble and is not very outspoken about his recruitment. His father recently came out saying that he will not be talking to the media very much anymore so he can get a normal teenage experience. Duke and Michigan State are said to be the leaders, but dont count Calipari out. Calipari has had some recent success recruiting out of Chicago, with Derrick Rose and Anthony Davis. Here is highlight video.

Julius Randle is a 6’9″, 240 lb PF from Plano, TX. Randle is an athletic forward that has been compared to the like of Charles Barkley. Calipari was recently on hand to watch his game in Orlando that was on ESPNU. Randle recruiting news came out yesterday and was reported that he has a top four of Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, and North Carolina. Duke and North Carolina are going to be tough to beat for Randle’s services, but Kentucky is in better shape than most thought. Randle is the reason that recent Florida commit Chris Walker did not get the offer from UK he so badly wanted. Randle recently did say about the thought of playing with James Young, the Harrison Twins, and himself that they would be tough to beat if they all decided to team up at UK. Randle is exactly the type of athlete that Calipari loves, he is a matchup nightmare on offense with his strong body with a good handle and decent jumper. Here is his highlight tape.

Xavier Rathan-Mayes is a 6’4, 180 lb Shooting Guard from Ontario, Canada while he plays high school ball at Huntington Prep in West Virginia. Rathan-Mayes is a very good three point shooter and has been one of the best scorers in the country. He has visited UK already and has recently been in contact with Coach John Calipari. One of the most important things for Rathan-Mayes though, is that he is best friends with the best player in the Country, Andrew Wiggins. Adam Zagoria recently published an article that said Rathan-Mayes and Wiggins could team up in college. Rathan-Mayes says, “We’ve always wanted to play together since we were young and go to school together so thats definitely a possibility.” Other school recruiting Rathan-Mayes are Florida State, Florida, Illinois, UConn, Baylor, Kansas, UCLA, and Alabama. Young is a 6’6″, 210 pound Shooting Guard from Troy, Michigan. Young has had his breakout summer, and he continues to impress. Lately he put on a show scoring at will at the Nike Peach Jam in front of Calipari and others. Young has been very outspoken about UK in the media recently when asked who was recruiting him, Young said “Its UK, then everybody else.” He is not something that is going to wow you but his skills, he just scores. He will make his visit to UK pretty soon, and if it is a good visit expect him to commit on the visit. Young did say recently though that he might wait until the spring to make a decision. Here is his highlight video.
